Keenan Cooks was born and raised in Boston, MA, and began dancing at the age of 14. Just two years later, he became a member of Boston based Nia Dance Troupe, where he first began his professional training. In 2008, Keenan moved to New York City to pursue dance professionally.
Over the last few years, Keenan’s teaching and instructing career has sky rocketed. Traveling weekly to teach his hard hitting, full-out style all over the world. Keenan has taught across the US and internationally in China, Japan, Korea, Germany, Argentina, Canada, and Paris just to name a few.
He is on faculty at two of the biggest studios in New York City, the prestigious Broadway Dance Center and Peridance Capezio Center. He is also a guest teacher at Movement Lifestyle and Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles.
As a choreographer, Keenan has had the privilege to choreograph a BET commercial and Gap’s new commercial for their latest ballet flat. He was also the choreographer for rapper Cardi B’s Underestimated Tour as well as her 2017 VMA performance.
He has danced for Latin superstars Prince Royce, Wisin, and Daddy Yankee. You may have seen him on Spike TV’s series Lip Sync Battle, dancing for John Legend, Queen Latifah, Salt n’ Pepa, and Ta-raji P. Henson. Most recently, he performed at the 2018 VMAs with Jennifer Lopez.
