House of Eights is a drop-in dance studio on Sackville Street in downtown Halifax. In a private lesson, one of our instructors works with just you, in any style we teach, at the pace that fits you.
Brand new to dance? Your instructor starts from zero, with no class to keep up with and nobody watching. Been dancing for years? Tell us what you are working toward and we will match you with an instructor who can sharpen your technique, your performance, and your style.
Lessons are booked around your schedule, not a class timetable. And you do not have to come alone: bring a friend or a partner and learn together, two people for the same price.
Everyone walks in with a different goal.
Learn the basics with nobody watching. Your instructor builds your foundations one step at a time, so a group class feels easy when you get there.
Already dancing? Go deep on heels, hip hop, contemporary, or whatever you love, with feedback a group class can never give you.
An audition, a performance, or a competition. We will build you a plan, and a routine if you want one, for the day that matters.
Couples and friends welcome. Two people share the lesson at no extra cost, and you leave with something you learned together.
Start with a single lesson, or save with a package. Every lesson is one hour, for one or two people.
Prices are our base rates, before HST. Select instructors in specialty styles have an extra cost, which we confirm when you book. Payment upfront secures your booking. Packages are for the same person (or pair) and are good for 6 months from purchase.
Private lessons are for one or two people. Three or more? Book a group session: a studio to yourselves, any song and any style, one flat price of $200 + HST for groups of 3 to 50.
Most groups come to celebrate, and we host great parties: birthdays, bachelorettes, staff parties, or no occasion at all. But plenty just come to learn, splitting the cost of a lesson tailored exactly to their crew. Either way, the parties page has all the details. And if it is a work event, corporate team building has a page of its own.

We pair you with the right instructor, confirm the exact rate, and suggest a plan, whether that is a single lesson or a package. Payment upfront locks in your time.

Around your schedule. Private lessons are not tied to the class timetable: tell us when you are free and we will find a time that works for you, your instructor, and a studio.
Buy 4 lessons for $320 or 8 for $560 at our base rate, plus HST, and book them one at a time around your schedule. A package belongs to the same person (or the same pair) and is good for 6 months from purchase.
Booking a specialty style with one of our select instructors? We will confirm your package price before you pay.
Life happens. Cancel or reschedule more than 24 hours ahead and there is no charge. Inside 24 hours the lesson is forfeited.
We would love to. Wedding first dances are their own thing here, with a page all about how they work. Start there and we will take care of the rest.
Comfortable clothes you can move in and clean indoor shoes. If your style needs anything special, like heels, your instructor will let you know before your first lesson.
