Tiana, also known as TJ (she/her) is from Calgary, Alberta where she trained under the School of Alberta Ballet and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. Her professional focus has centered around the history and connection between jazz and tap, where she has over a decade of teaching experience. TJ’s style acknowledges the West African roots jazz developed from, while incorporating Broadway and commercial aspects. Her students are often recognized for their strong technique, musicality, and personal stylization. TJ’s career highlights include being titled “Dancer of the Year” at a national level, choreographing and performing in various events including the Arctic Winter Games, and training under artists Stacey Tookey, Blake McGrath, and Stephen “tWitch” Boss who inspired her to explore movement further and join a street dance fusion crew. TJ aims to cultivate an inclusive environment to foster a love of dance at any age and looks forward to seeing you in class soon!
