Why Join?

Work Study is the best seat in the house. You’re right at the heart of the studio, surrounded by music, dancers, and people who love this as much as you do. Here’s what you get out of it:

  • Earn class credits. Exchange your shifts for drop-in class credits, and make dance more affordable for yourself.
  • A bigger part in the community. Get to know the instructors, the front desk team, and the dancers who come through our doors every day.
  • Real studio experience. Learn what it takes to run a professional dance studio from the inside.
  • New friends. Meet amazing people and build friendships that last well beyond your shifts.
  • Social events. A few get-togethers and activities a year, just for Work Study members, to help everyone connect.
  • Skills that travel. Time management, customer service, teamwork. Useful at the studio and everywhere else.

After You Apply

Your application stays on file

The form takes about five minutes, and applications are always open. Apply once and you’re set. There’s no need to reapply.

We reach out when shifts open

Most openings come up in September, January, and May, with some at other times of the year. When a shift opens up, we review the applications on file and contact selected applicants for a casual interview.

If it’s a good fit, you’re in

You’ll take on a regular shift, help keep the studio running, and earn class credits while you’re at it.

Front of house

Front Desk Assistant

Outgoing? Love making people feel at home? Front Desk Assistants are the friendly face of the studio: welcoming dancers, helping with check-ins, answering questions, and keeping the good energy going.

Behind the scenes

Cleaning Assistant

Take pride in a spotless space? Cleaning Assistants keep the studio fresh, comfortable, and ready to dance in, so every class starts in a space that feels great.

Where It Can Take You

Work Study is more than class credits. It’s a foot in the door of the dance industry, and past Work Study members have gone on to:

  • Admin and management roles at dance studios
  • Teaching regular classes right here at House of Eights
  • Connections to more work places and dance opportunities

Wherever you want your dance journey to go, this is a great place to start.

Requirements

We keep it simple. You’re a great fit for Work Study if:

  • You’re 18 or older
  • You can commit to at least 4 months
  • You’re reliable, mature, and friendly, and you like helping people

A note on priority: Work Study exists to make dance accessible. Priority goes to dedicated dancers in financial need who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend classes regularly.
