Based in the heart of downtown Halifax, House of Eights Dance Studio is Atlantic Canada’s home for drop-in dance classes.

We make it easy for you to add more dance to your life.

We are open 7 days a week with different classes each day, for adults 14 years old and up. With over 35 classes a week in more than a dozen different styles, you’ll easily find a class you’ll love.

Drop-In classes give you the freedom to choose when you want to dance and what classes you want to take.

With drop-ins, you don’t have to commit to taking the same class every week or worry when you’ve missed a class. Try hip hop and contemporary one week, then heels and jazz funk the next.

Our Mission

We are a community dance space with the mission to empower all we serve through dance education, community engagement, and artist development. We strive to create a safe and supportive space where people from all walks of life feel celebrated and equipped to achieve their goals through dance.

How it all started

Established in 2019 by Abady Alzahrani, House of Eights Dance Studio soon became the hub of Halifax and Atlantic Canada’s dance scene. The original location was in a small shared space above a diner on Barrington Street, which we quickly outgrew within a few months to a larger space just a block away. After just over year since opening, we closed our studio due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, through the incredible support of our community, we were able to reopen again in June 2020 in downtown Halifax and continued to grow to this day.

Whatever your goals, our faculty will enrich your dance experience whether you’re an adult beginner or a seasoned professional. We are committed to providing a safe, professional, and fun space for dancers to develop, create, and inspire. We are always happy to see new students excited for this untapped resource of fitness, fun, and community.

This studio has been a labour of love, created by the community, for the community. We can’t wait to meet you!
