Most couples who come to us have never taken a dance lesson. Some are dreading the first dance more than the speeches. That is exactly who these lessons are for.
House of Eights is a dance studio on Sackville Street in downtown Halifax, and our instructors teach complete beginners every day. Wedding lessons are private: just the two of you and your instructor, with the studio to yourselves. No audience, no pressure, and nothing to prepare before you arrive.
And every couple is welcome here. Whoever you are marrying, your dance is built around the two of you, your song, and how you want the moment to feel.
Two ways to get ready, depending on how much of a moment you want to make. Both are private lessons at the studio, scheduled around you.
Prices are before HST. Extra hours are $110 each if you would like more practice time.

We reach out to match you with your instructor and book lesson times that fit your schedule. Want to talk it through first? A free 15-minute consultation is always available, and completely optional.

None at all. Most couples we work with have never danced before. Lessons move at your pace, and your instructor will meet you exactly where you are.
There is no set rule. It depends on your schedule and how much practice time you want before the wedding. The earlier you reach out, the easier it is to book lesson times that suit you.
Yes. Pick the song that means the most to you and we will build around it. For the First Dance package we choreograph up to 4 minutes, and we can edit your song down to fit.

Yes. At the end of each lesson we save a few minutes to film a video or two of what you learned, so you have something to practice with at home between lessons.
Comfortable clothes you can move in and clean indoor shoes. Closer to the wedding, bring the shoes you will wear on the day so you can get used to dancing in them.
Not at all. Plenty of wedding dances are shared with a parent or someone else special: father-daughter, mother-son, or any pairing that matters to you. The First Dance package works for any two people.
