Dance Styles / Waacking
Gabrielle Greener is a Halifax-based street dancer who trains at House of Eights. While her dance experience includes a wide range of styles, including house, hip hop, jazz funk, house, heels, locking, popping, vogue, and fusion, waacking is the style closest to her heart. She has studied waacking with her teacher Carolin Mateus for several years before going on to develop her own expression of the style. Gabrielle has recently begun her career as a choreographer for SOMOS UNO, a show created in collaboration with Carolin Mateus as one of Mocean Dance’s Emerging Artists in Residence this past summer. Her performance credits include SOMOS UNO, Vibrancy Fest, Creative Nova Scotia Awards, House of Eights Showcases: Episodes 001 & 002, and Spotlight; Tales by Moonlight, and Dance Atlantic Gala.
