What do you want people to get from your class?
I hope to create a positive learning/dancing environment for those who attend my class. I would love to help everyone find what feels most comfortable for their body and help them to grow from there. Most importantly, I hope I can foster creativity and confidence in others.
What motivates you to dance?
Since the day I went to my first dance class at the age of three, I haven’t stopped! Dancing gives me an escape from everyday stress and allows me to live in the moment. I love the feeling I get while dancing – an inner calmness and an outer excitement. There is no better feeling than leaving class and feeling energized and accomplished.
What are some highlights of your career as a dancer/choreographer?
One of the biggest highlights of my dance career was attending a summer intensive at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School on a full scholarship. I was given the opportunity to join their full-time program but ultimately declined the offer to return home. I have also been able to attend many competitions at an international level, where I received multiple gold and silver medals. Lastly, I have been a part of Dalhousie’s competitive dance team for the past three years. This year, I am very fortunate to be the team’s contemporary choreographer and I am very excited to see how the rest of the year goes!
